Crow Shields Bailey Supports Light of the Village this Holiday Season

Crow Shields Bailey PC was proud to support Light of the Village this holiday season and spread cheer with children attending their Christmas party.

At Crow Shields Bailey PC, we’re committed to serving the Gulf Coast community we live and work in. This season, our employees joined together to support Light of the Village (LOV), a hands-on Christian ministry designed to serve the children in the inner city of Mobile.

As part of LOV’s workforce development program, they’ve created a small candle-making business called Lights of LOV. This program employs young men and women with no prior job experience, and previous criminal records or other obstacles to teach them job skills and work ethic. Proceeds from candles sold are poured back into the program to continue lighting the path for the futures of these young men and women.

In addition to supporting Lights of LOV, our team spent a fun-filled evening volunteering at the annual LOV Christmas party on December 14 where we enjoyed fellowship, arts and crafts, and games with the children involved in the program.

To learn more about LOV or ways to get involved, please visit www.lightofthevillage.org.

Children’s Philanthropies and Crow Shields Bailey Team Up for Thanksgiving

Crow Shields Bailey PC Senior Audit Associate Hunter Young debuted a turkey suit to drive participation for the annual Turkey Trot for Hope run on Thanksgiving Day.

This Thanksgiving, Crow Shields Bailey PC (CSB) showed their gratitude by giving back to Gulf Coast organizations that support local children throughout the area.

The CSB team joined in on one of the largest Thanksgiving Day traditions in Mobile – the Turkey Trot for Hope. Benefitting Camp Rap-A-Hope, a program offering year-long activities and a summer camp for children diagnosed with cancer, CSB Senior Audit Associate Hunter Young got into the holiday spirit and motivated others to participate – including wearing a turkey suit to our annual Thanksgiving office potluck. Thanks to Hunter and the support of a CSB sponsorship, 53 team members, family and friends registered to run in the race or gave a donation as a “Stay in Bed” participant.

Further supporting children, the CSB coordinated a Thanksgiving Child Advocacy Center food drive, creating and donating 10 meal donation boxes for local families in need. The Child Advocacy Center is the only social service agency in Mobile County that provides free services to child abuse victims and serves over 2,400 children.

We hope all of our family, friends and clients enjoyed their Thanksgiving celebrations as much as we did.

Crow Shields Bailey Takes Steps to Fund Blood Cancer Research

Crow Shields Bailey PC associates and families “Light the Night” to raise awareness for blood cancer, donating $900 to the cause.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Light the Night walk is an annual fundraiser walk, allowing nearly 200 communities across the nation to come together for the common goal of funding blood cancer research. We’re proud our backyard of Mobile is one of the participating communities and Crow Shields Bailey PC pulled together as a team to support this worthy cause.

This year, our Crow Shields Bailey team was pleased to place in the top three for “Top Corporate Fundraisers,” donating more than $900 for researching breakthrough therapies and treatments for blood cancer patients, providing educational materials and programs, advancing patient advocacy and funding one-on-one patient assistance through the LLS Information Resource Center.

We hope you’ll make plans to join the CSB team next November for the 2017 Light the Night walk.

Crow Shields Bailey Merger Featured in ASCPA Magazine

ASCPA May coverCrow Shields Bailey (CSB) managing partner Kenny Crow, CPA, authored an article about our recent merger experience with McKean and Associates for the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants (ASCPA) magazine. As the number of CPA firm combinations continues to increase, our team wanted to offer advice to other firms on how to make similar partnerships successful.

Crow described five merger steps using the analogy of uniting in a marriage of ideals, including leadership buy in, timing, the onboarding process, transition challenges and the long-term benefits of merging.

“I feel it is imperative for our firm to continue growing. Growth, resulting from healthy mergers, enables us to recruit new talent, retain key team members and provide quality client service” said Crow. Read the full article in ASCPA’s May/June issue.
